The Author Profile is designed to capture the essential points in an author’s life, with an emphasis on those that directly relate to his literary life.
Infographics (a clipped compound of “information” and “graphics”) are graphic visual representations of information, data, or knowledge intended to present information quickly and clearly.
Some free resources to make infographics include Prezi, OneNote, Canva, most picture editing apps, such as Pics Art, or any other software or app that allows you to combine pictures, gifs, or other graphics with words to present information in a cohesive but global way. (PowerPoint and Word are somewhat limiting, but you can use them provided you meet the following requirements).
Requirements:
focus on an author that we’ve read as a class.
Author image(s)
Author birthday  (if unknown use the commonly agreed-upon date or year)
Author death day  (if unknown use the commonly agreed-upon date or year)
Author’s locations (where he /she lived throughout his/her life)
Events that influenced the author’s writing- what major historical and/or personal life events left an impact on the author? Symbolize these events in images as well as explanations
Famous works- symbolize these works in images as well as titles
Famous quotes or lines (cite these!)
Author’s significance to the American canon- why does this Author matter? Why is this author worth studying? What does this author represent in American history and American culture?
In-text citations should appear on the infographic anytime you type information that you retrieved from a source (Lastname). Or (“Source”).
You may only use your textbook and the online/physical LRC for your sources.
Tips:
I would recommend searching Credo (online Reference database offered through digital LRC) for most biographical information.  Other literary databases also include Blooms Literature, Litfinder, Arts & Humanities Database, e-Library by ProQuest, Gale Literary Sources, and JSTOR.
Don’t forget you can receive extra credit if you sign up for a Research Coach appointment!  That’s when you work with a librarian to find the best sources for your assignment. Virtual and tele-appointments are available Contact the library for more information!  Don’t forget to have the librarian e-mail me so you can receive extra credit ?
You don’t have to cite your images.
A good infographic has a balanced mix of information and graphics.
Have fun with this assignment!  This is meant to be a creative representation of what you’ve understood about this particular author you’ve chosen.
Rubric:
For this assignment, you will begin with 100 points.  The ways you may lose points:
Late submission
Missing required images
Missing required information (make sure to address all parts of each requirement!)
Missing in-text citations
Missing explanations as to the author’s socio-historical importance.
Missing quotations attributed to the author
Missing graphics that help paint the portrait of the author’s profile- note these are not the same as images of the author. These graphics symbolize the author’s life, work(s), and/or contributions/legacy.  They say a picture is worth 1000 words.  Show me.
