Attending conferences is an excellent way to gain new knowledge or skills concerning online teaching and learning.
For this assignment, you will submit a poster proposal for a
conference concerning online education. Your proposed poster
presentation will evaluate open educational resources (OER) you used in
your course. (this is the OER I plan to use: https://www.healthline.com/human-body-maps/coccygeus-muscle#1)
Step 1. Research
Research conferences related to online education. Some resources are linked on the Learning Objects page.
Step 2. Prepare
Prepare a conference proposal
which evaluates open educational resources (OER) especially as related
to multimedia such as games, images or audiobooks. Include the following
content in the proposal paper:
What is the problem? Contextualize your topic.
What is your thesis/argument?
What is your evidence?
What is the theoretical basis? (Consider Roberto Carneiro’s generativism.)
What’s going on in the field of study and how does this presentation
contribute to it? Why does it matter? Be as specific as possible,
avoiding overly broad or overreaching statements and claims.
Keep your audience in mind.
Step 3. Design
Design a conference poster
presentation using PowerPoint according the submission requirements
associated with the conference organization.
Step 4. Compile
Compile content from Steps 1-3 in
an APA-formatted 5-to 7-page paper complete with a title page and
references page. Provide a copy of the conference proposal submission
and the poster presentation as appendices.
