Assignment Instructions:
Part 1: Justify the use of Model Systems for investigating gene function
Write an introductory paragraph explaining why model systems will be used to investigate the function of the human GATOR gene (15 points).
Part 2: Investigate the function of the GATOR gene using 3 different models systems.
Propose 2 or more experiments for each model system. (homologs of GATOR are present in all model systems that we have discussed in class as well as any other model system you choose to use).
Include  2-4 paragraphs describing experiments that you have proposed for each model system (20 points for each model system = 60 total).
For each model system, briefly describe a plan of action if the proposed experiments fail. These 1-2 paragraphs should including a brief description of alternative experimental approaches.
Part 3: Summarize the goal of the proposal
Write a concluding paragraph summarizing what you hope to accomplished by performing the proposed experiments (25 points).
