For ACT 6, find ONE scholarly, peer-reviewed article from the library databases that you would like to use for your final research paper. This should be an article YOU locate through research YOU complete. It should NOT be a document provided in class. It should NOT be anything from our textbooks.
Summarize what the article is about. This portion should be at least 1 paragraph.
• Questions to consider:
o What is the rhetorical situation? What does the author want readers to do or believe?
o What kinds of claims are used (ethos, pathos, logos)?
o What is this article about, in general, and what is the author’s main point?
Then, respond to the article. This portion should be at least 1 paragraph.
• Questions to consider:
o How will this article help you write your paper? What points will it help you support?
o Imagine you are talking to the author about their points. What would you say to them? Where can you say, “Yes, and…” or “No, but…” to their points so that you can add to the conversation?
o Who benefits if you believe this article’s claims? Why is that important?
o Do you agree or disagree with the article? Why or why not?
o What questions do you have after reading this article?
This assignment should be approximately ¾ of a page to 1 page long.
